I wonder how to estimate cloud cost… and I keep hearing ‘use the cost calculator!’ What is that? ---

A cost calculator is (usually) an interactive web page associated with a particular cloud vendor. In our case that means AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure. You can find the same kind of cost calculator for other commercial cloud via search engine. Here are the respective links for these three: - [AWS cost calculator](https://calculator.aws/) - [Azure cost calculator](https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/calculator/) - [Google Cloud cost calculator](https://cloud.google.com/products/calculator) There is no ‘preferred’ cloud in our view: Each has unique features that distinguish its services; but it is also the case that many basic services are equivalent from one cloud to another. Keep in mind that the primary customers for cloud computing are companies; and our use baseline at CloudBank is adapting the cloud to research and education.
